Health ONE: Behavior Health and Wellness Center
Health ONE Behavioral Health and Wellness Center
In an innovative effort to continue their preventative approach to care, The Medical Center of Aurora (TMCA) and AWARE developed a consultative treatment model for three Aurora Middle Schools. TMCA now offers the services of a fully licensed clinician to Aurora Hills, Aurora South, and Aurora East Middle Schools to supplement the work of their existing school based mental health providers. This partnership helps identify youth that may have a higher need for behavioral health services, and provides clinical intervention as early as possible, with the ultimate goal of identifying and addressing the developmental and social challenges facing these youth before higher levels of care are needed.
In July of 2016, TMCA expanded their North Campus facility (located at 700 Potomac St., Aurora, CO, 80011) to include services for adolescents ages 11-17 years old. The expansion included a state-of-the art inpatient unit with 20 beds, built to serve youth in need of short term-treatment for an acute behavioral health crisis. In addition, TMCA committed themselves to a full continuum of mental health services by adding two lower levels of outpatient care including a partial day program (PHP) (offered Monday-Friday 8:00 am-2:00 pm), which is an intermediate level of care for youth with less acute symptoms that do not require an inpatient level of treatment, and an intensive outpatient program (IOP) (offered Monday-Thursday 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm), which is their lowest level of care, and built as an after school program. Both of the outpatient programs allow adolescents to receive support for their behavioral health and overall wellness, while returning home to their families each evening.
